It Ends Today

Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter. It seems (ten) years since its been here.

Although I may not write here that often anymore, it is easier to clean up than graffiti. So, one more time, for auld shang-a-lang.

After several days of much needed rain here in California, the sun is shining. We are washed clean. A cool breeze of optimism is gently blowing this election day.

Metaphorically, weather is the Alpha and the Omega.

Think back a decade ago, to the days of the Lewinsky Scandal End Times. It was the beginning of the rabidly partisan era that we put to bed today!

A decade of disappointment in leadership ends today. Yes, Clinton disappointed - the whole cigar thing reeked of Big Daddy Warbucks creepiness - but he disappointed only through acting humanly. The major disillusion came from the partisan reaction, the success of hypocritical political vendetta & the dawning of a caustic age of abuse of power.

It all ends today.

Let the sun shine in.

I don't believe in superstition, so I can say: Barack Obama, you have a massive mess to attend to. But you are the rain maker and we the people support you, need you. The cleanup begins now.

PS:
And like that toddler in the funny eTrade commercial, you just saw me buy stock. Whoah.

It's gonna be "doo-doo-doo-doo Here Comes the Sun" for once instead of "doo-doo-doo-doo-doo Heartbreaker." That extra doo makes all the difference. ;^)

Too many celebration options here tonight, including friends who've got a suite in the Loop near the rally. But I'm leaning toward staying with my family. They've put up with a lot these past eight years!

How 'bout you?

One last phone banking session (for Charlie Brown) this afternoon. After that, I'll be at hearth & home, sopping up some spicy cable pundit gumbo.

Thursday will be our public partay time, when we attend the annual SF Room to Read fundraiser. It'll be crawling with still giddy Libberawls.

What a night!!!!!

McCain's concession speech was (or at least sounded to me) a lot less patronizing and artificial than I'd anticipated. And Barack was eloquent, as always. Someday his speeches will be among the ones children read excerpts from in their history books, I'm sure.

How'd your boy Charlie Brown fare?

@K: Where's the party??
@D: The Brown contest is still too close to call. The count 451 votes in favor of McClintock - BUT - absentee and provisional ballots remain to be counted. One estimate says it's a significant number uncounted - from 20K to 40K ballots. It's a nail biter, we stay tuned...
