"Live at Folsom Prison."

You hear that, you think "Johnny Cash," right?

If you don't, where have you been the past 38 years?

But if you think "Michael Franti & Spearhead"... we already know where you have been: you've been up in them thar foothills!

"Que", you say?

Franti and that small - but resourceful - foothills radio station I've been digging recently, KVMR, are putting together a live show and broadcast from "New Folsom" (California State Prison-Sacramento), on Thanksgiving Eve.

They'll air the concert 11/23 at 8 p.m. PST, with live webcast found here. Also, the Pacifica Radio Network is offering it via satellite feed to affiliates nationwide; so check your local PBS stations.

This could be just the thing to cleanse my pallet of all the hype for the upcoming Joaquin Phoenix/Reese Withersoon crapulent Johnny Cash-in biopic-nose movie. You think we'll be seeing either of those prima donnas anywhere near Folsom Prison? I think the Man In Black would give thanks for the Franti project - and I shall give thanks for some funky background music, to get the holiday started.
