Too much.

While the gulf coast is justifiably front and center on our radar, there's this from Iraq: 648 dead. I'm supporting the Red Cross and the Red Crescent.

Although it's tin-foil-hat of me to be blaming the government for either disaster, I can't help but wonder about their effectiveness in mobilizing aid and relief resources. Why was the LA governor on Larry King for an hour yesterday!? Today she is calling for a 'day of prayer?' Um, that's all well and good, but let's see action. Has everyone in power been issued a copy of My Pet Goat? Guiliani is wrong on most things, but in the immediate aftermath of the WTC disaster he was brilliant. Rudy, I think they need you in New Orleans. I've donated and I've also volunteered, if they need DAT volunteers from out here. We'll see.

Blogging about the bigger picture sometimes (often) seems presumptuous. That's the only reason I'm mentioning what I'm personally doing. But then doing that makes me feel like a self-absorbed jerk. This blogging can be such a pain in the ass. Maybe it's time to give it a break.
