Word of the day

He appeared wizened
As in shrunken, as in old.
The impressions of a past
Expressed in every fold.

Are we really such an open book?
Is everything revealed?
Or are there layers in the skin
Where stories lay concealed?

“Of course there are,” the doorman said.
“You see them every day.”
But he opens doors for others -
It’s much easier that way.

History within the rock
The oceans’ blend is deep
Fate or Fancy, etch a sketch
In my face, to keep.

(when there's no editor, you takes your chances)
