Grammy-bits

* I guess if you signed up to be on Avril Lavignes' (sp?) street team, you got your moment in the spotlight last night. Nothing like a faux party pit (there's no way 'mosh' and Avril go together) to make it a happening.

* Most of the winners seem to have some element of musicality about them. They can play and sing. But too bad they have horrendous song-writing skills and are totally irrelevant to today's music.

* Only one mention about the war - and a weak one at that? Nice try Durst, but so much for using any forum.

* Norah Jones is OK by me. I'm glad she won something, but everything? I really did like her vocal performance last night. She sings a lot more notes now and she does it without resorting to Christina Aguilare's (sp?) throw-in-a-string-of-notes-at-the-end-of-each-verse style. See? musicality!

* The night Bjork and Aretha Franklin share a stage, fashion will take a quantum leap. Which direction, is relative.

* What was the point of Simon & Garfunkel anyway? I missed the beginning intro. I've always liked how Art stands, while singing. Almost like Andy Kaufman, singing the theme to Mighty Mouse.

* Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock? Wha da foicke? I don't get either individually, but together, it's the ultimate paradox.

* Of the following, who looked the most like they wished they were back home in bed? The afore mentioned Simon & Garfunkel, Cindy Lauper, Lou Reed, BB King? Even Bruce S looked like he phoned in his presence. Well, maybe Nelly - but he wouldn't be going for 40 winks. Nighty night folks.
