It's going to be a busy November...
...not to be confused with a productive november.

I think we've found a contractor for the home remodel. One who isn't afraid to have me on the crew! The plan is taking shape. A sunroom addition, kitchen and bath remodels, some new wood flooring, loft above the garage & a massive outdoor patio for the 'upper' backyard. No more lawn! We'll be designing into the 'great room' (taking liberties with the descriptions) a display/storage cabinet for the music recording gear, cds, etc. Our home concert venue (see previous parenthetical aside) will have plush new environs!

Next up, Deb surprised me - she gets one too - with new Dagger Blackwater 12.5 kayaks for my birthday. Hope the balmy weather continues long enough to give them a little workout soon.

Lastly, I've finally decided on my novel topic for NaNoWriMo. Up until yesterday, I was thinking of writing something with the title "Moratorium." I had some idea what the story would be, but frankly, it just wasn't happening. After talking with fellow november writer-to-be, Sofa, I somehow flipped to a more sci-fi theme. Working title is "A New Polarity," in which our intrepid character set confronts a world where the magnetic field is beginning to flip. Magnetic North becomes South and vice versa. It's happened before. It's recorded in geologic history and there is some evidence we're due for another flip in the next 1000 years. Obviously, there could be some really serious ramifications for life as we know it. However, my story spin is going to try to focus on the transitional phase. It may not happen all in a blink - it could take years to fully flip. Much more complex multipole & toroidal magnetic fields could manifest themselves. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing. Anyway, that's the idea. Shortly, I'll let you know where the unfolding story can be viewed & ripped apart.
